Summer is a fantastic time of year...but I can't really think of a time of year that isn't great, each season is in its own way. Autumn is cozy and cool with rich, warm colors and crackling leaves. Winter can be nice when you're wrapped in a blanket with a good book and drinking hot chocolate like you can't survive without it. Spring is beautiful because it's after winter, when you've been inside for what seems like forever, and it's when flowers bloom and the world thaws out once again.
And summer? It means little or no school, swimming at my grandpa's house, the cool feeling of air conditioning in the daytime, only one blanket on your bed at nighttime, hazy colors of pinks and greens, re-reading books for the fourth time. This year it will mean going to camp and doing things I've never done before -- stepping outside my comfort zone. I'm excited for this summer
Every year, in preparation for summertime, my mom, sister, and I always make a list of things we want to do. This year, in addition, I thought I'd make one of my own. This is just the start, I'll add to the list as I think of more things. Here it is.
...
Get a tan
Do the Summer Pursuit
Go to camp
Exercise
Read the Love Comes Softly series (it's a tradition)
Read the Chronicles of Narnia
Finish the Elsie Dinsmore series
Get a large blizzard at Dairy Queen
Lay on a quilt in the yard and read
Go swimming
Make a blueberry pie
Sell things at the farmer's market
Learn the basics of photographing in manual mode
Get strawberries from the strawberry bed
Start a blog series
Make homemade popsicles
Write
Re-do my room
...
What are you looking forward to this summer?
Have I told you how much I love this new design. Oh, well, I'll say it again. It makes me absolutely gush.

ReplyDeleteHi Haley, your blog really touches me, have been reading it for awhile... Just wanted you to know about a website i started ReadYourBiblesChurch.com... It's a place for Bible study guides.. I also put a forum in that can be viewed from a mobile device.. I couldn't find where to contact you privately so I'm commenting, hope that is okay. :) God Bless!
ReplyDeleteSo excited for this summer. I'm volunteering to be a counsellor at my favorite Christian camp EVER. Planning for lots of swimming, slushie-drinking, hanging with friends, and PICTURES. So many of them.
ReplyDeleteThat second picture is SO fun, by the way. And Narnia - is just too awesome for words. My favorite book is either The Horse and His Boy or The Silver Chair.

Hey dear,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I've been gone for a while and haven't got the time to comment on anyones' blog. But now I'm back! Ready to be inspired.
And those pictures are brilliant, awesomeness. The lighting is perfect! ;) And your writing, is so nice... like the warm sun on a breezy day.
I love your list. It's such a nice list. I'm too lazy to make a list, but I am looking forward to camping this weekend (I'm not prepared at all), and Junior Lifeguard, and pretty much just lazing about with my family. It's so nice to have them all home. ;)
Can't wait for more on your summer adventures. ;)
Love,
Rebekah
