AWKWARD

-Mom returning some things in the check out line, and me standing behind her with the things we're going to purchase. The employees ask me if I would like to move to a different register to check out...twice. "No, I'm with her. But, thank you."

-Going to check for eggs in the coop another time, and when I walk in the door, our dog comes through the chicken door. Ohhhh, so, that's where the eggs have been going....

-And speaking of chickens, when the chickens are already on the roost and you need to check the nests for eggs. Scary.

-Tripping backward over the legs of a coat rack.

-Saying to Mom, "Some brownies sound really good right now." She tells me where I can find a brownie mix -- under the passenger seat in the car.

-Taking a walk, getting halfway down the road -- and realizing your cat followed you. The same one who plays frisbee.

-Accidentally changing my blogger dashboard to Bulgarian.

AWESOME

-Playing Draw Something with Dad until eleven o'clock at night.

-The waiter at a resturant leaving the chives off my soup, because I ordered my salad without onions. Good thinkin'.

-A salted carmel cake pop. Super duper good.

-Covering notebooks in pictures, pretty tape, handkerchiefs, denim and gingham fabric.

-Finally, finally getting my room cleaned up and put back together and tweaking it just a bit for fall.

-My grandpa teaching me how to make a new smiley face on his phone. :~)

-Getting letters in the mail from pen-pals. Always awesome.

What are some awkward and awesome things from your week from your week?

autumn begins

Today my calendar has two words on it (plus an exclamation point): "Autumn Begins". Lately the semi-fall breezes have been blowing, the temperature is lower, and our consumption of hot chocolate is up. School has settled into a routine. Addy's in sixth grade. I'm in my freshmen year of high school. The mornings are chilly and sometimes foggy, and the ground is sprinkled with dew. We get up, do chores, eat breakfast, get ready, and start school.

There are a couple leaves here and there that are yellow in the midst of green ones. And every once in awhile you can spot a tree where the leaves are half red.

All I can say is that I'm super looking forward to a trip to the pumpkin patch, wearing boots and sweaters, and for when the trees are completely covered in warm colors.

What are you looking forward to this fall?

chocolate chip pumpkin muffins

Today the weather is cold and rainy. The sky is white and it has drizzled almost all day long. I'm still wearing the hoodie I put on this morning. It seemed like a good idea to us all for something pumpkin. Because today it feels a little like fall. And pumpkin? It screams fall. So, after lunch, I pulled out a well-worn recipe and whipped up a batch of chocolate chip pumpkin muffins. I think there might be a few left.

chocolate chip pumpkin muffins

Dry ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet ingredients:
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup pumpkin
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup chocolate chips

Mix together dry ingredients and set aside. In large bowl beat eggs. Stir in pumpkin and melted butter. Slowly add dry ingredients and stir. Fold in chocolate chips. Spoon batter into muffin pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Enjoy!

P.S. Like I said here, I've been working on a new design -- and now it's on display. What do you think of it?
